The Geauga Fresh Farmers Market
has opened its seventh season
in the South Russell Village
parking lot at Rt. 306 and Bell St.

The market will be open Saturdays,
rain or shine, from 9:00-1:00PM
until October 11, 2008. 

Come to the market for fresh, local berries and also produce and salad greens, vegetable and flowering plants, hanging baskets, cut flowers, honey, jams, maple syrup, cheese, meat, baked goods, soaps and lotions, salsas, sauces, pickles, and much more seasonal produce and locally produced crafts. 

The phrase 100-Mile Diet was coined in 2005 in Canada, to describe a one-year local eating experiment that consisted of eating food produced or grown within 100 miles of home. This included not only local produce, but also any meat or dairy products. Since the average distance in the American food system is 1,500 miles from farm to plate, the 100-Mile Diet is aimed at reducing this distance while supporting local food producers.
